Psychotherapy

I offer individual psychotherapy to individuals across all age groups, providing services in English as well as a hybrid of Korean and English.

My approach to treatment is integrative, drawing upon elements from various evidence-based therapeutic modalities, such as psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and the biopsychosocial model. I am dedicated to tailoring treatment to meet your unique needs, while maintaining flexibility and creativity.

I have extensive clinical experiences working with individuals on a wide range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, stress management, self-esteem issues, family conflict, race-based trauma, emotion regulation difficulties, relational issues, childhood trauma, and cultural, generational, and racial issues.

When do I need therapy?

People choose to pursue therapy for a variety of reasons. Some seek it to address mental health concerns, while others do so to find supportive space when they are going through a stressful period. Some seek it to improve their understanding about themselves, others, and the world. Engaging in therapy is a valuable form of self-care that provides a supportive environment for self-exploration and personal growth.

How long is a therapy appointment?

Each session typically lasts 55 minutes.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session, also known as an intake, provides an opportunity for us to establish a connection and for me to gain a deeper understanding of your history and the concerns that led you to seek therapy. It’s common to feel a bit nervous during the initial sessions, as you will be sharing personal experiences with someone you do not know well yet. I want to assure you that this is normal. My goal is to create a safe and comfortable space where you can share and open up at your own pace. I will respect your boundaries and will not pressure you to discuss anything you are not ready to explore.

What if I arrive late for my appointment?

I aim to adhere to the scheduled start and end times for all sessions. If you happen to arrive late for your session, please note that we will only have the remaining time within the allotted 55 minutes. For example, if you arrive 10 minutes late, our session will be shortened to 45 minutes. If you arrive after your appointment time has passed, it will be considered as a “no show,” and the full fee for the appointment will be charged.

Can I reschedule my appointment?

Life happens and can sometimes make it challenging for you to attend your regularly scheduled session. If you find yourself in such a situation, please inform me at least 24 hours before your scheduled session. I will try my best to accommodate you with another appointment within the same week, if possible. However, please note that if you fail to provide at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations, you will be responsible for the full fee of that session.

How much is it for a session? Do you take insurance?

The fee for individual psychotherapy is $300-$350 per session. Payment for each session is due at the beginning of the session. I accept payment through Zelle, Venmo, and Credit Cards. I accept Aetna insurance. I work with most insurance plans (in- or out-of-network) to make the financials easy, hassle and paper-work free for you. I can directly bill your insurance for you. Depending on your insurance, your out-of-pocket cost can range from $20 to $200

Are you offering in-person sessions?

Yes, I offer both in-person (located in NYC) and online sessions (for both NJ & NY).
